Named an All-American city for the 2nd time in 2018, Mount Pleasant has quickly become one of the most desirable locations for people to call home in the Charleston area. The largest town in the entire state of South Carolina has seen its population double since the turn of the century, and it's easy to see why!! 1. Access to Beaches
You most likely are looking to move to Charleston to be close to the water… well in Mount Pleasant you’re in luck, because you'll be just a short drive away from not one, but 2, beaches! Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island connect to Mount Pleasant giving you access to all the sun and sand you can handle. And when you’ve gotten your fill of the sun, both beaches have plenty of great restaurants to quench your thirst.
2. Historic Sites
Mount Pleasant is home to many historical sites that can give you a little backstory into the development of Charleston over the years. You can take a tour through Boone Hall Plantation and pick strawberries, head down to Patriots Point and walk through the USS Yorktown, a decommission aircraft carrier in the US Navy, or drive through the Old Village Historic District to take a walk down the Pitt Street bridge.

Charleston is known for its food scene and Mount Pleasant does not disappoint when it comes to that! Home to some of the best seafood and southern style restaurants in the area, you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner in Mount Pleasant and be blown away by every single meal. 5. Shem Creek
One of the most popular spots to hang for residents and visitors is Shem Creek. With multiple restaurants overlooking the water and a ½ mile boardwalk taking you out to the mouth of the creek, this area is a perfect place to watch one of Charleston’s gorgeous sunsets and is known to have dolphins and manatees frequenting its waterways.
6. Education
Mount Pleasant is dedicated to ensuring that generations of residents to come are well educated. 100% of Mount Pleasant schools have achieved an “excellent” rating from the South Carolina Department of Education, year after year. In 2010, Mount Pleasant was even home to the national principal of the year which was awarded to Wando High School’s Lucy Beckham. 7. The Ravenel Bridge
The Arthur Ravenel bridge has become an iconic feature of Charleston. Connecting Mount Pleasant to downtown Charleston, this 8 lane bridge was completed in 2005 over the Cooper River to accommodate the bigger shipping vessels that were coming into the Charleston ports. A 2.5 mile walking path was included so residents could enjoy a scenic view as they got their exercise in. Every spring the Ravenel Bridge is host to the Cooper River Bridge Run and attracts over 40,000 people to this 10k race that begins in Mount Pleasant and ends in downtown Charleston.
